So not only was this my 16th week but it was also my next 4 week appt. At the appointment the blood pressure (bp) was a little high again but the doc thinks it could just be nerves so we shall see. If its high again at the next 4 week appt. I will have them re-check it at the end of the appt. to see if its gone done. That way my nerves have had time to calm down.
The doc did the Doppler and at first she could not get the babe to stay still to pick it up and let me tell you waiting for her to pick it up feels like an eternity to me. She stated that the baby was not staying still for her and sure enough were I had felt movement the week before is were she found the little bugger :) The heartbeat (HB) was in the 160's which some may tell you if the HB is high its a girl if its low its a boy. However, the doc burst my bubble to tell me her baby's HB was in the 120's her whole pregnancy and everyone swore it was a boy and it was a girl. So there is know telling ladies and gents until the Anatomy Appointment.
Which brings me to how I tried to bribe the doc to let me find out the sex sooner then 20 weeks. However, she stated she makes her patients wait so the baby is bigger and more developed for them to be able to catch anything abnormal anatomy wise. FINE FINE....yea yea...its for the wellness of my kid and me...but it still stinks...I WANT TO KNOW LOL!However, she was sweet enough to offer to bring me in every two weeks to see her to hear the heartbeat because I was explaining to her that at about the half way point I start getting all sorts of anxiety...Which yes I know is ridiculous but if you have any idea of where I've been then you would get it. Plus (knock on wood) feeling AWESOME can be scary especially when there is no movement yet. She totally understood which is another reason I think she ROCKS :)We finished the appointment with talking about Labor and Delivery. As most of you know I'm driving an hour to see this awesome doc and the hubby is concerned we are going to have the kid in the car. As I suspected she assured me I will not have this babe in the car; I just won't be one of those lucky ladies who gets to labor at home most of it will have to take place at the hospital.
We also talked about how long she lets you go and she will not let her patients go past 41 weeks. She even told me if at 39 weeks I am ready to give up she will go ahead and induce me. I had VERY mixed emotions about induction prior to getting pregnant. Honestly though I cry quite often b/c I miss my family so much and every daughter wants their Mommy w/ them when they give birth. So this opens that door for me. Yes I've heard it can make labor harder and yes it increases your chance for C-section but its my decision and its one I'll be considering. I have lots of time to think about it. Its just good that I have that option ya know? Most docs dont even offer that up.
I left the room to schedule my next 4 week appt which is also my 20 week appointment and the ANATOMY ULTRASOUND can I get a "HOLLAR!"...lol. Lets not be fooled I made sure to have the appointment schedule at the beginning of my 20 week and the earliest I can get. Yeah baby I got the first appointment so excited LOL!
